Optamor Attends Inmarsat 230x230

Optamor Attends Inmarsat-5 F2 (I-5 F2) Satellite Launch

Optamor were pleased to join in the celebrations of the successful launch of the Inmarsat-5 F2 (I-5 F2) on 1 February. Peta Earles, Bally Chima and Claire Proudlove attended the special launch day event which was attended by almost 400 members of staff and their families.

A brunch was provided for all attendees, held at Inmarsat’s headquarters in City Road, London. There was plenty of nervous excitement in the air as everyone kept a watchful eye on the countdown clocks that displayed the time to lift-off at 12:31 GMT.

The brunch was followed by LEGO rocket building and a space-themed fancy dress parade (sadly only for the younger attendees!) in which the children got to show off their amazing outfits. Prizes were awarded for the best costumes and all the children received I-5 F2 branded goodies.

The crowd assembled in the Constellation Room as the I-5 F2 satellite streamed live on the screen from Baikonur, Kazakhstan. The Inmarsat-5 F2 launch was the first ILS Proton launch in 2015 (and the third Inmarsat satellite launched on ILS Proton). The crowd joined in the countdown and erupted in applause and cheers as the Proton rocket powered into orbit.
